INVISIBLE-EXPORTS presents ADAM MARELLI | DOUBT
Through October 4, 2009
Lecture on Thursday, September 17
at the Morris Museum, Morristown NJ

INVISIBLE-EXPORTS in collaboration with the Morris Museum is pleased to announce ADAM MARELLI | DOUBT, an installation at the Morris Museum.

Presenting a reconstructed and reinterpreted bowling alley, Marelli’s use of this instantly recognizable American pastime becomes a commentary on our daily routines and missed opportunities.  He states: “In a game where falling short of perfection is the norm, strategies of competition and how we measure success are called into question. The work looks at the prevailing emotions of a bowler staring down the lane. The frozen pins hang suspended, as mechanized repetition is rewarded above all other behaviors. Deviation is penalized, as the slick geometry of bowling maintains its rigid perimeters. In a game where perfection is nearly impossible to achieve, we oddly continue this pastime for the amusement of ourselves and the pleasure of others.”

Born and raised in Florham Park New Jersey, Marelli holds a double major in Sculpture and Photography at New York University. His expanding body of work includes sculpture, photography, video, and architectural installations.

On Thursday, September 17 at 6 p.m., Adam Marelli will talk about his installation and his motivation and inspiration for this and other works. This Artist Talk at the Morris Museum is free to the public.
